BEIJING / ISLAMABAD (HRNW) – China has called on Pakistan to further strengthen its mediation efforts to reduce escalating tensions between Iran and the United States and to support efforts aimed at reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the Chinese news agency Xinhua, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a telephone conversation with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, during which they discussed regional developments, Iran–US tensions, and ongoing ceasefire-related issues.
The report states that Ishaq Dar briefed the Chinese foreign minister on Pakistan’s recent diplomatic efforts between Tehran and Washington and thanked China for its support. He expressed hope that both countries would continue close cooperation to promote peace and stability in the region.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi appreciated Pakistan’s role in facilitating dialogue and supporting the temporary ceasefire, stating that Islamabad should continue its constructive diplomatic efforts to help restore regional peace.
According to Xinhua, Wang Yi reaffirmed that China will continue to support Pakistan’s mediation initiatives and play its role in promoting de-escalation and stability in the region.
The report also noted that the continued disruption in the Strait of Hormuz has significantly affected global trade and oil supply chains, prompting ongoing diplomatic efforts by multiple countries to reopen this critical maritime route.
