Explosive-Laden Bags Found Near Russian Gas Pipeline in Serbia, Hungary on Alert

Belgrade (HRNW)- Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced that the army and police discovered two bags filled with explosives near a Russian gas pipeline leading to Hungary.

The pipeline, known as Balkan Stream, is an extension of the Turkish Stream that transports Russian gas to Serbia and Hungary. According to President Vucic, the bags contained two large packages of explosives with detonators and were found a few hundred meters from the pipeline in Knin, northern Serbia.

Following the discovery, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban convened an emergency meeting. Meanwhile, Hungarian opposition leader Peter Magyar suggested that the incident could be a “false flag” operation aimed at disrupting the country’s elections scheduled for next Sunday.

The incident has raised serious regional security concerns given the strategic importance of the gas pipeline.
