PTA Warns Public About Fraudsters Using Its Name for Scams

ISLAMABAD (HRNW) – The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued a public advisory after reports emerged that fraudsters are using the authority’s name to deceive citizens across the country.

According to details, PTA clarified in its advisory that the organization never asks users for personal information through phone calls, SMS messages, or emails. The authority urged the public not to trust any such communication claiming to be from PTA.

The advisory further instructed users to immediately report suspicious calls, emails, or messages to the relevant authorities and warned citizens against clicking on unknown or suspicious links, as such links may be used to steal personal data.

PTA also advised the public not to share sensitive information including passwords, PIN codes, CNIC numbers, or bank account details with anyone and emphasized the importance of verifying the identity of senders before responding to any message or email.
