Trump to Visit Beijing for High-Stakes Talks With Xi Jinping on Iran, Trade and Global Issues

Beijing/Washington (HRNW) – China has confirmed that US President Donald Trump will undertake an official visit to Beijing from May 13 to 15, where he is expected to hold high-level talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

According to a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson, the visit is taking place at the invitation of President Xi Jinping. The meeting is expected to cover key global issues, including the situation in Iran, trade tensions, Taiwan, and broader international developments.

Reports indicate that during the visit, Donald Trump is likely to raise pressure on China regarding its purchase of Iranian oil, as Beijing remains one of the largest importers of Iranian crude, while Washington continues to tighten economic pressure on Tehran.

White House officials have described the trip as a highly significant diplomatic and symbolic visit. They said the President aims not only to hold formal discussions but also to secure new trade agreements and economic advantages for the United States.

This will be President Trump’s first visit to China during his second term. The trip was initially expected earlier in the year but was delayed due to developments linked to the Iran conflict.

According to the White House, Trump will also visit Beijing’s historic Temple of Heaven and attend a state banquet in his honor. It will be the first visit by a US president to China since 2017.
