Washington (HRNW) – New details have emerged about a possible diplomatic breakthrough between Iran and the United States amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
According to the American newspaper Wall Street Journal, Tehran has expressed willingness to suspend uranium enrichment for a limited period in response to the current crisis, but has rejected long-term conditions proposed by Washington.
The report states that the United States had demanded Iran completely halt uranium enrichment for up to 20 years, a condition Iranian leadership has described as unacceptable.
Sources further claim that Iran, in its response, has proposed a phased ceasefire, gradual reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, and the initiation of new negotiations within the next 30 days.
According to the report, Tehran has indicated that meaningful progress toward reducing regional tensions could be possible if sanctions are lifted and naval restrictions are eased.
