Lahore (HRNW)- The Punjab government has approved the Provincial Motor Vehicle (Second Amendment) Bill 2026, under which the heavy fines imposed for violation of traffic rules have been significantly reduced, while imprisonment for some violations has also been abolished.
According to details, Sardar Saleem Haider Khan has signed the bill, after which it has become part of the law. Under the new amendment, major changes have been made in the system of punishments for traffic violations to provide relief to the citizens.
Speaking in Lahore, the Governor of Punjab said that the Pakistan Peoples Party is a people’s party and such decisions have always been taken that benefit the common man. He said that the people are already severely affected by inflation, in such a situation, it was not appropriate to impose heavy fines.
According to officials, after the implementation of the new law, steps will also be taken to improve the traffic system and provide convenience to the citizens.
