Tehran (HRNW)- Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have announced safe alternative routes for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz to avoid potential minefields.
According to the statement, all ships have been instructed to follow maritime safety rules and use the newly designated traffic routes to prevent collisions with mines. Specific instructions have also been issued for the entry and exit of ships.
The Strait of Hormuz had been closed since early March, causing a sharp rise in global fuel prices. Experts say Iran’s move is a precautionary measure to avoid any untoward incidents during the ceasefire. However, there are concerns that using alternative routes may cause delays in maritime traffic, and the presence of sea mines remains a serious challenge for commercial shipping.
