Hamadan (HRNW) – A fighter jet crashed and caught fire in Iran’s western Hamadan province, resulting in the death of one pilot, while the second pilot survived.
According to Iran’s semi-official Fars News Agency, the aircraft belonged to the 31st Tactical Fighter Squadron and was on a routine training flight. The pilots attempted to return to the Hamadan airbase after observing a suspicious situation during the flight. An aviation expert reported that the plane lost control shortly before landing when its gears were deployed.
The Iranian Air Force has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash, though no official details have been released regarding the type of aircraft or whether friendly fire was involved.
