NADRA Introduces Major Reform in Arms License Renewal System; Validity Extended to Five Years

ISLAMABAD (HRNW): In a significant move to facilitate citizens, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has overhauled the arms license renewal process. Under the new directives issued by the Ministry of Interior, federal arms licenses will no longer require annual renewal.

Key Changes in the Renewal Cycle:

According to a NADRA spokesperson, a new system has been introduced where federal arms licenses will now remain valid for a period of five years from the date of issuance or renewal. This change allows citizens to benefit from the full five-year term without the hassle of yearly administrative procedures.

End of the Universal Expiry Date:

Under the previous system, all arms licenses across the country expired simultaneously on December 31st of every year, regardless of when they were issued. This created significant difficulties and long queues for citizens at the end of each calendar year. The spokesperson highlighted that:

  • Digitalization: The complete digitization of the arms license system has enabled this transition to a more flexible, user-friendly cycle.

  • Ease of Access: Licenses will now expire based on their specific date of issuance or the date of their last renewal, rather than a fixed year-end date.

Government Objective:

The Ministry of Interior stated that this reform is part of a broader effort to simplify government services and reduce the bureaucratic burden on the public. By extending the validity period and removing the fixed year-end deadline, the government aims to provide a more efficient and transparent service to licensed arms holders nationwide.
