Lahore, Pakistan (HRNW) – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced an increase in the number of minority cards from 75,000 to 100,000, along with a decision to exempt members of the Sikh community from wearing helmets due to their religious practice of wearing turbans.
The announcement was made during her address at a Christmas celebration held at the Cathedral Church in Lahore, where she emphasized her government’s commitment to fostering religious harmony and inclusion.
Maryam Nawaz stated that creating a minority-friendly Punjab should not only be the dream of minorities but of every citizen of Pakistan. She added that it is the responsibility of the Muslim majority to ensure that minorities receive equal rights and fair access to provincial resources, as they too represent the true spirit and identity of Punjab.
