Security Forces Kill 10 Militants in South Waziristan and Dir Operations, President and PM Pay Tribute

Rawalpindi (HRNW)- Pakistan’s security forces killed 10 militants belonging to Fitna-ul-Khawarij during two separate intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The military’s media wing said the Pakistan Army eliminated the militants during separate operations in South Waziristan and Dir districts. Weapons and a large quantity of ammunition were also recovered from the possession of the slain militants.

According to the ISPR, the first operation was conducted on August 6 in the Azam Warsak area of South Waziristan, where militants allegedly attempted to attack security forces’ check posts. The forces responded swiftly and effectively, foiling the attack and killing eight militants during an intense exchange of fire.

The second operation was carried out in Dir district, where security forces killed two more militants, bringing the total number of militants killed in both operations to 10.

The ISPR said the recovered weapons and ammunition indicated that the militants had been involved in multiple terrorist activities in the region.

The military’s media wing added that clearance and search operations are continuing in the affected areas due to the possibility of the presence of additional militants.

According to the statement, in line with the National Action Plan approved by the Federal Apex Committee and the Vision of Stability, Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies will continue counter-terrorism operations with full resolve to eliminate foreign-sponsored terrorism.

Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari paid tribute to the security forces for the successful operations in South Waziristan and Dir, praising their professionalism in foiling the attack in the Azam Warsak area. In his message, the President said the nation stands firmly with its brave security forces and values their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.

President Zardari added that the designs of terrorist elements operating under foreign patronage would be defeated at all costs.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also commended the security forces for the successful operations, saying the nation is proud of the professionalism, courage, and sacrifices of its armed forces.

The Prime Minister stated that operations against terrorist elements will continue with full determination under Operation Azm-e-Istehkam until terrorism is completely eradicated. He reaffirmed that the government and the people of Pakistan stand shoulder to shoulder with the country’s security forces in the fight against terrorism.
