Muzaffarabad (HRNW)- The Election Commission of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has announced the postponement of polling in Poonch and Sudhnoti districts during the third phase of the general elections due to the prevailing law and order situation.
According to the spokesperson for the AJK Election Commission, a report submitted by the Secretary Home, Government of Azad Kashmir, expressed concerns regarding the security situation in Poonch and Sudhnoti, due to which polling in the constituencies of these districts will not be held on August 10.
The spokesperson said that polling will, however, be conducted as scheduled on August 10 in three constituencies of Bagh district and one constituency of Haveli district.
According to the Election Commission, the decision to postpone polling was taken in light of the prevailing law and order situation and requests submitted by several political leaders and election candidates to ensure that the electoral process is conducted in a free, fair, transparent, and peaceful environment.
The spokesperson added that a new polling date and revised election schedule will be announced after reviewing the security situation.
