Karachi (HRNW)- Jamaat-e-Islami has announced nationwide sit-ins and road blockades at 510 locations across Pakistan today in protest against the petroleum levy and rising inflation.
In a video statement, Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Ameer Munem Zafar Khan said demonstrations will be held on 510 major highways across the country. He said roads will remain closed during the protests, while ambulances will be allowed to pass without interruption.
Munem Zafar Khan said protests will take place in several cities, including Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, Quetta, Peshawar, Faisalabad, and Rawalpindi. In Karachi, protest convoys will begin departing from various locations at 4:00 p.m.
According to him, convoys will depart from Shahrah-e-Pakistan, Hub Road, National Highway, Super Highway, Orangi, Korangi, Pakistan Chowk, and Sher Shah. All convoys will gather at Mazar-e-Quaid, from where the main protest convoy will proceed towards Shahrah-e-Faisal.
He said the protest campaign would continue until the petroleum levy is withdrawn. He added that if the public demonstrates unity and collective strength, their demands can be achieved.
The Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Ameer appealed to citizens to actively participate in the demonstrations, urging people to play their role in securing their rights.
