Islamabad (HRNW) — Arguments have concluded before the Islamabad High Court in a case concerning the alleged solitary confinement of PTI founder Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, with the court reserving its decision.
The court stated that an order on the matter would be issued at a later stage.
During the hearing, the Advocate General submitted that Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi are being provided facilities in prison that are even better than those available under B-Class.
The case also carries significant human rights implications, as the treatment of persons in custody, including their dignity, living conditions, access to healthcare, family meetings and other basic facilities, falls within fundamental human rights principles. However, the legal status of their confinement and the adequacy of the facilities will ultimately be determined by the court.
With the arguments concluded and the decision reserved, attention now turns to the written order of the Islamabad High Court, which will clarify the court’s position on the allegations concerning solitary confinement and prison facilities.
