Karachi (HRNW): The constitutional bench of the Sindh High Court heard petitions regarding the recovery of 15 missing persons.
During the hearing, the court expressed strong anger over the failure to register FIRs in cases of enforced disappearances.
Justice Muhammad Saleem Jessar questioned why police were not registering cases for citizens who have gone missing.
The Additional Advocate General Sindh, Hakam Ali Sheikh, informed the court that in some cases, families had not approached the police for registration of FIRs.
The court directed families to immediately approach the relevant police stations to lodge FIRs.
The court also ordered the registration of cases in several missing persons incidents, including:
- Faraaz Ali from Gulshan-e-Iqbal area
- Azharuddin from Paposh Nagar area
- Daidar Hussain from Machko area
The court further instructed that individuals whose FIRs have already been registered should be traced without delay.
Justice Jessar remarked that the court must see clear progress in the recovery of missing persons.
All other reports were made part of the record, while the court sought progress reports from the Home Department Sindh, IG Sindh, and other authorities.
The hearing was adjourned until August 6.
