Washington (HRNW): The United States has imposed new sanctions on individuals and companies linked to Hezbollah.
According to U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, the measures target individuals and entities involved in raising funds for Hezbollah.
He stated that disarming Hezbollah is essential for peace in Lebanon.
The U.S. Treasury Department also sanctioned Mahaad Qamati, deputy head of Hezbollah’s political council, accusing him of facilitating fund transfers from Iran.
Similarly, Suleiman Frangieh, leader of Lebanon’s Marada Movement, has also been placed under sanctions for allegedly supporting Hezbollah’s political alliance.
Under the sanctions, all assets of the designated individuals within the United States will be frozen.
The U.S. warned that violations of these measures could result in penalties for both domestic and foreign institutions, while banks engaging in transactions with the sanctioned individuals may also face restrictions.
