Islamabad (HRNW): Police have arrested two individuals in connection with the murder of a woman allegedly killed during a domestic dispute over property, in what initially appeared to be a case implicating a retired police officer.
According to details, a retired Islamabad Police Sub-Inspector Tariq Mahmood was earlier detained on suspicion of killing his wife. However, subsequent investigation has revealed a different version of events.
Police sources and initial findings suggest that the woman was allegedly killed by her step-sons, identified as Umair Qazi and Ammar Qazi, during a heated family dispute over property ownership.
The accused allegedly wanted the house to be transferred in their names, while tensions escalated during a confrontation inside the home. During the altercation, the woman was shot and died on the spot.
Family members of the deceased have stated that the retired officer and his step-sons had ongoing disputes over property matters, particularly regarding the residence where the family was living.
The victim’s brother has lodged an FIR, stating that Umair Qazi and Ammar Qazi had long-standing conflicts with the deceased, primarily related to inheritance and property ownership.
Police have confirmed that both suspects are now in custody and further investigation is underway to determine the exact sequence of events and establish responsibility.
