Suspect Involved in Selling Sensitive Citizens’ Data to Foreign Intelligence Agencies Sent on 3-Day Physical Remand

Karachi (HRNW): A suspect accused of selling sensitive documents and personal data of Pakistani citizens to foreign intelligence agencies was produced before the court of the Judicial Magistrate West.

The court granted a 3-day physical remand of the accused and handed him over to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

According to the investigating officer, the suspect, identified as Sameer Hussain, is part of an organized digital network.

The officer informed the court that efforts are underway to arrest at least half a dozen more associates linked to the network.

He further stated that the network includes both local and foreign individuals, and investigations are ongoing to apprehend them.

The investigating officer added that the accused is also involved in digital financial fraud targeting Pakistani citizens.

He allegedly sold sensitive data of citizens obtained from NADRA, passport records, and mobile phone users to foreign intelligence agencies.

According to investigators, the accused and his associates used various social media platforms to communicate with foreign intelligence operatives.

Payments were reportedly received through cryptocurrency and digital wallets.
