Islamabad: 18 Million Rupees Looted from Cattle Traders by Men Impersonating Police Officers; Case Registered

Islamabad (Crime Reporter Umar Khan / HRNW): In the jurisdiction of Tarnol Police Station in the federal capital, unidentified individuals impersonating police officials allegedly deprived cattle traders of Rs 1.8 million after they had sold their livestock at a cattle market. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to trace the suspects.

According to the complaint filed by the complainant Ghulam Hussain, son of Imam Bakhsh, a resident of Bhakkar district (currently residing in Rawalpindi), he along with his cousin Muhammad Sharif, brother Muhammad Siddiq, and son Muhammad Saad had come to the Bhara Kahu cattle market to sell animals. On 26 May 2026, after selling the livestock, they were waiting at Chishti Abad stop.

The complainant stated that his son was carrying Rs 1.7 million in a bag, while his cousin had Rs 100,000, making a total of Rs 1.8 million in cash.

He further stated that during their wait, an unknown pedestrian approached them and showed some currency notes lying on the ground, claiming they might belong to them. The traders, however, denied ownership. Shortly afterward, a white-colored car, reportedly a Corolla, arrived at the scene.

A man stepped out of the vehicle wearing a police-style cap and introduced himself as a sub-inspector, claiming to be a police officer. He allegedly threatened and pressured the traders to move aside. Once they complied, three more unidentified men got out of the car and, under the pretext of a search, snatched the cash-filled bag and the money from the cousin before fleeing the scene.
