PESHAWAR (HRNW): In a swift response to the federal government’s massive hike in fuel prices, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has announced a monthly relief package of 2,200 rupees for registered motorcycle owners across the province. This move is specifically designed to protect low-income commuters from the sudden spike in transportation costs. The provincial leadership, including Sohail Afridi, lashed out at the federal administration for maintaining an extravagant lifestyle and buying private jets while dropping a 55 rupee per liter “petrol atomic bomb” on the poor public. The KP government argues that while they are trying to provide direct cash transfers to offset inflation, the federal authorities have failed to reduce their own lavish spending. This 2,200 rupee subsidy is expected to reach millions of households who rely on two-wheelers for their daily livelihood.
