Kinjhar (HRNW): Four members of a family from Karachi, including two women, were allegedly injured in an attack at Kinjhar Lake after they reportedly objected to harassment and inappropriate behavior towards women. The victims allege that the attackers used knives and axes during the incident.
According to the affected family, residents of Keamari Block 29, Karachi, had visited Kinjhar Lake for a picnic. They alleged that while women from the family were swimming, some local youths began harassing them and making inappropriate remarks.
The family members said they confronted the individuals and asked them to stop, following which the alleged attackers called additional people and assaulted them with knives and axes.
The injured reportedly include Zeeshan, son of Maqboolin, a KPT employee, his wife Rabia, and a woman named Natasha. The victims claim that both women and men were injured during the alleged attack.
Abdul Saboor, who was accompanying the affected family, stated that the incident occurred in the morning and alleged that the attackers assaulted the family after being confronted over the alleged harassment of women. He appealed to the Sindh Home Minister and Inspector General of Sindh Police for immediate intervention and justice.
The affected family has also alleged delays in legal proceedings by the local police. However, an official statement from the police regarding the incident, registration of a case, and further action is awaited.
