Woman Alleges Week-Long Sexual Assault After Being Lured With Promise of Marriage, Seeks Justice

Hyderabad (HRNW) – A woman from Karachi has appealed for justice and the immediate arrest of the suspects after alleging that she was lured to Tando Adam with a promise of marriage, unlawfully confined, and sexually assaulted for a week.

Speaking at a press conference at the Hyderabad Press Club, Kanwal Bint Muhammad Farooq, a resident of Korangi C Area, Karachi, alleged that Imran Khyber, a resident of Tando Adam, contacted her through social media and expressed his intention to marry her. She said she left her home in Karachi on 22 July and traveled to Tando Adam to meet him.

According to Kanwal, Imran Khyber took her to the residence of his associate, Police Constable Muhammad Taqi, who is allegedly posted at City Muhammadi Chowk Police Station. She alleged that both men unlawfully confined her there for seven days and repeatedly subjected her to sexual assault.

The complainant stated that she eventually managed to escape and reached the Tando Adam court, where she informed lawyers about the incident. She said the lawyers accompanied her to the City Police Station, where an initial complaint was registered against the accused.

Kanwal further alleged that the local police failed to cooperate with her and did not arrest the suspects. She also claimed that her DNA examination and medical assessment at the Civil Hospital in Tando Adam were left incomplete.

She additionally alleged that the main suspect recorded a video of her and threatened to kill her if she disclosed the incident to anyone.

The complainant has appealed to the Chief Minister of Sindh, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, the SSP Sanghar, and the SSP Hyderabad to ensure her safety, conduct a transparent investigation, and immediately arrest the accused so that legal action may be taken in accordance with the law.
