ISLAMABAD (HRNW)- Young Journalists Association has decided to organize a specialized media workshop for young journalists aimed at enhancing their professional capabilities in modern digital journalism, cybersecurity awareness, and the effective use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in media practices.
The decision was taken during an important meeting of the association chaired by President Muhammad Yousaf Khan. Chairman Malik Zubair Awan, General Secretary Adnan Arif, Secretary Information and Broadcasting Nawabzada Shah Ali, governing body members Muhammad Fayyaz Fareed, Ammar Imran, Salma Malik, Qudsia Abbasi, and other office-bearers and members of the association were also present on the occasion.
According to the organizers, senior officials from the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) will conduct the training sessions and provide practical guidance to young journalists on modern journalistic requirements, cybercrime awareness, digital safety, fake news identification, online verification techniques, and the responsible use of AI-powered tools in journalism.
Participants in the meeting emphasized that the media industry is rapidly transforming due to technological advancements and digital platforms, making it essential for journalists to stay updated with emerging trends and modern newsroom practices.
They observed that cyber threats, misinformation, and digital manipulation have become serious challenges for media professionals, requiring specialized training and awareness.
The workshop will include interactive sessions on cybersecurity, digital ethics, fact-checking methods, protection of online data, and the use of innovative technologies to improve reporting and newsroom efficiency.
Participants will also be briefed on the legal and ethical aspects related to cybercrime and digital content dissemination.
Speaking during the meeting, President Muhammad Yousaf Khan said the initiative reflects the association’s commitment to empowering young journalists with modern skills and technological understanding so they can perform their professional responsibilities more effectively in the digital era.
Chairman Malik Zubair Awan said the collaboration with NCCIA would provide participants with valuable exposure to contemporary cybersecurity challenges and professional digital practices. He added that such training programs are vital for preparing journalists to counter misinformation and promote responsible journalism.
The association announced that journalists interested in participating in the workshop will be required to submit their names, organization details, and contact information via WhatsApp for registration, while the venue and schedule of the workshop will be shared separately with registered participants.
