Tehran (HRNW) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has strongly reacted to US President Donald Trump’s statement regarding the name of the Strait of Hormuz, criticizing the US President’s stance in a statement shared on social media platform X. Araqchi also shared an old video clip of Donald Trump, in which he allegedly mistakenly referred to the Strait of Hormuz as “Trump Strait” before later correcting himself. According to media reports, President Trump also posted a map on Truth Social labeling the Strait of Hormuz as “Trump Strait,” drawing a sharp response from Iran. Abbas Araqchi said that globally recognized and historically accurate names for important geographical locations must be respected, warning that misrepresentation of names such as the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz is a serious matter that can fuel unnecessary tensions and conflict in the region.
