Karachi: Driver and Two Guards Detained in Major Cash Van Robbery Worth Rs. 300 Million

Karachi (HRNW): In a major breakthrough in what is being described as one of the biggest cash van robberies of the year, police have detained the driver and two security guards of the cash van for alleged involvement in the incident.

SSP Central Dr. Imran stated that the mastermind of the robbery was the cash van’s chief crew member, Wajid, who allegedly planned the entire operation.

According to police, Wajid had himself shifted from the cash van into a double-cabin vehicle during the incident, while four accomplices in the double-cabin remained in constant contact with him. Authorities said that after the robbery, the chief crew member locked the cash van doors from the outside.

Investigators confirmed that the main suspects have fled the city, while initial findings indicate that the driver and two security guards were allegedly involved and have been taken into custody for questioning.

Officials said that on Friday morning, staff had left an office on Tariq Road carrying cash in 20 bags. The vehicle reportedly stopped at Water Pump area in violation of SOPs, where the robbery allegedly took place.

Police further stated that geo-fencing of the crime scene has been completed, and call data records of the suspects have been obtained for further investigation.

Authorities described the incident as the biggest cash van robbery of the year in Karachi, adding that the stolen amount has not yet been recovered.
