Rs. 6 Billion Corruption Probe Launched into BRT Yellow Line Project; Former PD Zamir Abbasi and Others Summoned

Karachi (HRNW): Following explicit directives from the Chief Secretary of Sindh, a formal departmental inquiry has been launched into alleged financial irregularities exceeding Rs. 6 billion within Karachi’s mega-transit venture, the BRT Yellow Line project.

The designated Inquiry Officer has formally summoned the former Project Director (PD), Zamir Abbasi, to join the investigation, while the statements of two other senior BRT officials have already been recorded.

According to Provincial Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, the inquiry committee has directed the former PD Zamir Abbasi, current Project Director Kamal Hakim, and Deputy Director Taha Aziz to appear before the forum along with the complete official and procurement records of the Yellow Line project. However, another key accused in the multi-billion rupee financial scam, Director of Procurement Juman Das, has continuously evaded the process and has failed to join the ongoing departmental inquiry so far.
