Election Campaign Ends as Gilgit-Baltistan Prepares for Polling Across 24 Constituencies

Gilgit (HRNW) – The campaign period for the Gilgit-Baltistan general elections has officially concluded, with voters set to cast their ballots on June 7 across the region.

According to election officials, a total of 396 candidates are contesting elections in 24 constituencies. Among them are 266 independent candidates, while seven female candidates are also participating in the electoral process.

To facilitate voting, 1,368 polling stations have been established throughout Gilgit-Baltistan. Officials have categorized 480 polling stations as highly sensitive, 350 as sensitive, and 457 as normal based on security assessments.

Election authorities stated that the total number of registered voters in the province stands at 958,780. Of these, 537,772 are male voters, while 454,708 are female voters.

The provincial administration has announced that all necessary arrangements for the elections have been completed. To maintain law and order and ensure a peaceful voting process, approximately 15,000 police personnel will be deployed on security duties across the region.

Authorities have expressed confidence that the elections will be conducted in a secure and orderly manner, allowing voters to exercise their democratic right freely.
