Flash Floods Close Main Highway, Bridge Washed Away After Torrential Rains

Upper Dir (HRNW)- Torrential rains continue to batter Upper Dir, triggering severe flooding in rivers and rainwater channels and creating an alarming situation in several areas of the district.

According to Rescue 1122, a flash flood completely blocked the main highway near Ankar Madrasa, forcing the closure of the road to all types of traffic. The closure resulted in long queues of vehicles, leaving passengers and tourists stranded at various locations.

Rescue officials said that a connection bridge was also washed away by the heavy rains, while roads in several areas were damaged by floodwaters, severely disrupting the transportation network.

According to rescue sources, a vehicle was swept away by the flash flood during the flooding of a rainwater canal. However, no casualties had been reported immediately after the incident.

Rescue 1122 teams are continuing relief operations and closely monitoring the situation in the affected areas. Authorities have advised citizens and tourists to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from rivers and canals, and strictly follow safety precautions until conditions improve.
