Islamabad (HRNW) – The federal government has decided to introduce legislation for the establishment of commercial courts aimed at ensuring the speedy and effective resolution of commercial disputes across the country. A special committee has also been formed on the instructions of the Prime Minister to prepare the proposed legal framework.
According to sources, an eight-member committee has been constituted to draft legislation for the establishment of commercial courts. The committee will be headed by Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar and will be responsible for preparing recommendations and the proposed law.
Other members of the committee include Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan, Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani, the Secretary Law, and other relevant officials.
Sources said that the committee has been tasked with submitting its report and recommendations to the Prime Minister within 45 days.
The proposed legislation is intended to improve Pakistan’s business environment, encourage local and foreign investment, and ensure the prompt disposal of commercial disputes through specialized courts.
Officials believe that the establishment of commercial courts will strengthen investor confidence, reduce delays in commercial litigation, and contribute to economic growth by providing businesses with a more efficient legal framework for dispute resolution.
