St. Petersburg (HRNW) – Russian President Vladimir Putin, while responding to a question from an Indian journalist during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, stated that it is incorrect to describe Pakistan as a country under China’s influence.
Addressing the forum, President Putin said the perception that Pakistan is completely influenced by China is inaccurate. He emphasized that Pakistan is a large and important country that maintains balanced and diverse relations with various nations around the world.
The Russian president further noted that defense and military cooperation between Russia and China has existed for many years and will continue in the future. According to Putin, relations between Moscow and Beijing are based on mutual interests and a strategic partnership.
Responding to a question regarding Iran, Putin said that Russia enjoys relations based on trust with Iran and can play a constructive role in helping reduce tensions in the region.
Discussing the conflict in Ukraine, the Russian president claimed that Russian forces had recently gained control of approximately 2,440 square kilometers of territory in Ukraine. He also reiterated that Russia remains prepared to pursue negotiations with Ukraine aimed at achieving a peaceful settlement of the conflict.
President Putin’s remarks regarding Pakistan are being viewed as a significant diplomatic gesture, highlighting Pakistan’s sovereign foreign policy and its independent engagement with the international community.
