Frankfurt (HRNW) – Several people sustained minor injuries after a Lufthansa Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner experienced a nose gear failure during boarding at Frankfurt Airport, Germany’s busiest airport.
According to reports, the incident occurred while Lufthansa flight LH-450 bound for Los Angeles was preparing for departure from Gate A15. The aircraft was parked and boarding was underway when the nose gear reportedly malfunctioned, causing the front section of the aircraft to drop to the ground.
Reports indicate that passengers were in the process of boarding at the time of the incident, while most crew members and ground service personnel were already on board.
A Lufthansa spokesperson confirmed that several individuals suffered minor injuries. The injured included two cabin crew members and multiple employees of the ground handling company. They were taken to hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.
The aircraft involved was a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner that had joined Lufthansa’s fleet only five months earlier. The aircraft completed its first commercial flight in January 2026 and is regarded as one of the airline’s most modern long-haul jets.
Following the incident, airport authorities and technical experts launched a detailed inspection of the aircraft to determine the cause of the nose gear failure. The scheduled flight was canceled, and alternative travel arrangements were made for affected passengers.
Officials stated that a comprehensive investigation is underway, and further details will be released after the completion of the technical assessment and official report.
