Karachi (HRNW)- The Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave alert for several districts of Sindh as intense heat grips central and upper parts of the province, while a separate weather advisory has also been issued for Karachi. According to meteorologists, most parts of Sindh are expected to experience hot, extremely hot, and dry weather, with heatwave conditions likely to persist until May 3.
Districts expected to be most affected include Jamshoro, Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad, Kashmore, Ghotki, Sanghar, Khairpur, Naushahro Feroze, Jacobabad, Larkana, and Sukkur, where daytime temperatures may rise 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal levels. Authorities have advised citizens—especially children, women, and the elderly—to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight during peak daytime hours and ensure adequate hydration. Farmers have also been urged to protect crops and livestock from extreme weather conditions.
For Karachi, the Meteorological Department has forecast hot and dry weather, with temperatures expected to exceed 38°C over the next two days and possibly reach 39°C on Sunday. While sea breezes are expected to remain active, occasional westerly winds may also blow briefly. Officials clarified that despite the hot weather, Karachi is not expected to experience full heatwave conditions like the upper and central districts of Sindh.
