Islamabad (HRNW) – Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has announced that he has received a formal response from the Kashmir Joint Action Committee regarding his proposal to establish a Truth Commission.
In his statement, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that the committee had replied to his letter and submitted its own recommendations in response to his proposal. He emphasized that every loss of life is a national tragedy, and that his immediate priority is to end the current crisis, provide urgent relief to the affected population, and restore normal life in Azad Jammu and Kashmir as soon as possible.
Bilawal welcomed the committee’s willingness to consider the proposed Truth Commission as a possible institutional mechanism for moving the process forward. He noted that the proposed commission has already been endorsed by the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.
He further stated that he would carefully review the committee’s recommendations and consult with the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. According to Bilawal, the AJK Prime Minister will also seek preliminary views from the federal government and other relevant stakeholders to determine whether there is sufficient common ground to advance a mutually agreed proposal.
