Karachi Port Crosses Major Milestone with Over 2,000 Vessel Arrivals After 8 Years

Karachi (HRNW): The Karachi Port Trust (KPT) has achieved a significant milestone by handling over 2,000 vessel arrivals in a fiscal year after a gap of eight years.

According to KPT officials, a total of 2,003 ships berthed at Karachi Port during the fiscal year, marking a notable increase compared to the previous year. This reflects a 7.5% rise in vessel traffic.

The statement further revealed that the total cargo handling at Karachi Port exceeded 84 million tons, while gross registered tonnage also recorded a 3% increase.

The Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs termed the development a positive indicator for the national economy, stating that growth in maritime trade reflects improved economic activity.

Chairman KPT Shahid Azeem/Ahad (as referenced in the statement) said that Karachi Port, established in 1887, continues to serve as Pakistan’s most important maritime trade gateway. He added that improved shipping operations and enhanced efficiency have contributed to this historic achievement.
