Karachi (HRNW)- Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has denied reports of a gas leak following complaints of a gas smell in different parts of the city, stating that the odor is the result of the commissioning of a new gas pipeline.
According to the SSGC spokesperson, there has been no gas leakage reported anywhere in Karachi. A new gas pipeline is being commissioned near Abul Hassan Isfahani Road, and testing of odorization plants is underway as part of the process.
The spokesperson said that a higher-than-normal quantity of odorant has been added to the gas during the commissioning process, causing the noticeable smell. SSGC said all system pressures remain normal and consumers can continue their routine activities without concern.
Meanwhile, SSGC announced that the commissioning of a new 16-inch diameter gas pipeline from Abul Hassan Isfahani Road to Gulshan-e-Maymar is scheduled to take place tonight. During the process, all relevant Town Border Stations (TBSs) located on Abul Hassan Isfahani Road will be shifted to the new pipeline.
To complete the work, gas supply will remain temporarily suspended from 10:00 PM tonight until 10:00 AM tomorrow in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, parts of Scheme 33, Gulshan-e-Maymar, Abul Hassan Isfahani Road, Metroville and Al Asif Square.
