Paris (HRNW)- French President Emmanuel Macron has announced that the joint maritime security mission established by France and the United Kingdom to safeguard shipping in the Strait of Hormuz is fully prepared and can be deployed immediately if required.
According to foreign media reports, Macron’s statement comes as international efforts continue to restore normal maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz following recent tensions in the Middle East and ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at securing a broader peace agreement.
In a statement posted on social media platform X, the French president said that all necessary military resources, personnel, and operational assets for the joint France-UK mission are in place and ready for deployment.
Macron emphasized that the uninterrupted flow of maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, without restrictions, additional fees, or obstacles, is essential for regional stability and the global economy.
He noted that a significant portion of the world’s energy supplies and international trade passes through the strategic waterway, making its security and accessibility a matter of global importance.
The French president is expected to discuss regional security and maritime stability with US President Donald Trump during meetings on the sidelines of the G7 Summit.
Political observers believe that if diplomatic efforts between Iran and the United States continue to progress, the normalization of shipping activities in the Strait of Hormuz could positively influence global markets, particularly oil and energy prices.
The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most important maritime routes, carrying a substantial share of global oil exports. Recent regional tensions and concerns over shipping disruptions had heightened uncertainty in international energy markets and among major trading nations.
