Karachi (HRNW): Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) central leader Syed Mustafa Kamal has announced the formal establishment of the “Mutahida Healthcare Committee” to drive structural public health reforms, nominating Dr. Naeem Qaimkhani as its head. Outlining the core vision of the body, Kamal asserted that the committee will focus primarily on preventative medicine to protect citizens from falling ill in the first place, emphasizing that true healthcare on a global scale extends far beyond mere survival. He criticized the national medical infrastructure, stating that Pakistan currently operates a reactionary “sick-care system” rather than a proactive “healthcare system,” noting that genuine healthcare interventions must begin outside hospital walls before preventable diseases manifest.
Highlighting critical environmental and demographic challenges, Kamal pointed out that an alarming 62% of prevailing diseases across the country stem directly from the consumption of contaminated water. He further warned that Pakistan’s population is expanding by 6.2 million people annually, pointing out that if even a minor 2% of this yearly influx falls ill, the country’s fragile health infrastructure will completely collapse under the unsustainable medical and financial burden. To systematically counter these vulnerabilities, the newly formed committee will operate under the leadership of Dr. Naeem Qaimkhani, alongside a specialized team of members including Dr. Afzal Ahmed, Fariduddin, Adnan, Abrar Ahmed, Anthony Samuel, Tehseen, Kashif Balm, and Moeez Khan.
