Lahore (HRNW) – The Punjab government has announced a major reform to modernize the province’s land records system, ending the issuance of land ownership documents through the traditional manual Patwar Khana system after June 30.
According to the government, a modern “Green Certificate Letter” will now be issued as proof of land ownership under a fully digital, secure and transparent system.
Officials stated that the primary objective of the initiative is to eliminate forgery, unnecessary delays and corruption associated with manual land records. The new digital framework is expected to provide citizens with faster, more reliable and convenient access to land ownership information and related services.
The government believes that the transition to a digital system will improve record management, enhance transparency and reduce the chances of disputes arising from inaccurate or manipulated land records.
Punjab authorities described the reform as an important step toward modern governance and public service delivery, emphasizing that it will directly benefit citizens while strengthening public confidence in land administration and property-related matters.
The move is part of broader efforts to digitize government services and improve efficiency, accountability and transparency across public institutions in the province.
