Pakistan Rejects India’s Remarks on Gilgit-Baltistan Elections, Calls Them Baseless

Islamabad (HRNW) – Pakistan’s Foreign Office has categorically rejected India’s comments regarding the upcoming elections in Gilgit-Baltistan, describing them as baseless and without legal or moral justification.

In a statement, the Foreign Office spokesperson said that India’s remarks were an attempt to distort facts and promote misleading narratives. The spokesperson added that such statements have no legal or moral standing and do not change the realities on the ground.

The statement emphasized that elections in Gilgit-Baltistan are an internal matter of Pakistan and that the people of the region have the constitutional and democratic right to freely elect their representatives through a transparent electoral process.

The Foreign Office urged India to respect international law and diplomatic norms instead of making what it described as irresponsible statements concerning Pakistan’s internal affairs.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s position, the spokesperson said the country remains committed to strengthening democratic institutions and processes in all its regions while safeguarding the rights and aspirations of its citizens.

The statement comes ahead of the Gilgit-Baltistan elections, where voters are expected to elect representatives through the democratic process under the country’s constitutional framework.
