Severe Load Shedding in Karachi: MQM Demands Cancellation of K-Electric’s License

KARACHI (HRNW): Amid an intense heatwave in Karachi, MQM-Pakistan has reacted strongly to prolonged power outages, demanding the cancellation of K-Electric’s license.

Key points from the MQM-Pakistan spokesperson’s statement include:

  • Extended Outages: Reports indicate that electricity remains unavailable for up to 21 hours in several areas of the city.

  • Impact on Exempt Areas: Severe power cuts are also being carried out in areas previously declared “load-shedding free” by the utility provider.

  • Criticism of Performance: The spokesperson labeled K-Electric as an “extremely incompetent institution”.

  • Public Hardship: It was noted that despite paying for the most expensive electricity, the citizens of Karachi are deprived of basic facilities and are suffering in the extreme heat.
