Chakwal / Lahore (HRNW): Authorities have formally registered a criminal case in connection with the tragic death of 9-year-old Hania Ahmed, a young girl visiting Pakistan from Australia, who was allegedly killed in a shooting involving a personnel member of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD/CCD) in Punjab’s Chakwal district. The FIR now includes serious murder charges.
According to police officials, the gravity and sensitivity of the incident prompted investigators to add murder provisions to the case against the CTD officer. Law enforcement agencies have recovered the official rifle allegedly used in the shooting and taken it into custody as evidence. The accused officer was arrested and, after completion of legal formalities, was sent to jail on judicial remand.
In a significant development aimed at ensuring transparency, the investigation has been withdrawn from the City Police Station and formally transferred to senior CTD authorities. Officials say the move is intended to facilitate an impartial and comprehensive inquiry into all circumstances surrounding the incident.
The case has also attracted attention at the provincial level. Additional Inspector General of CTD Punjab, Sohail Zafar Chatha, is expected to visit Chakwal soon. During the visit, he is likely to review the progress of the investigation, meet the bereaved family of Hania Ahmed, and offer condolences while expressing sympathy over the tragic loss of the young girl.
