Islamabad (HRNW): Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Dr. Farooq Sattar has said that a gathering of traders and industrialists from across Pakistan was held at the Convention Centre Islamabad, where discussions were held on solutions to the challenges facing the country.
In his statement, Dr. Farooq Sattar said that the point on which everyone agreed during the gathering was the outcome of their 45-year-long struggle. He said that a framework presented by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi for transferring powers and resources to ordinary citizens was welcomed by traders, industrialists, and people from different walks of life.
He said that discussions were also held on creating opportunities for Pakistan’s younger generation, particularly Generation Z (Gen Z), and providing them a path to progress. He added that there was a need to end the concentration of power among a few families.
Dr. Farooq Sattar emphasized that full implementation of Article 140-A of the Constitution is necessary for the effective transfer of powers and resources to the grassroots level and for establishing empowered local governments.
He said that one viewpoint presented during the discussion was that a referendum could be held on the issue of new provinces under Article 48, Clause 6 of the Constitution to seek public opinion.
He further stated that a proposal was also made to convene a national-level All Parties Conference (APC) to discuss and address major issues facing the country.
