PM Shehbaz Says Field Marshal Asim Munir Played Key Role in Improving Iran-US Relations

Beijing (HRNW)- Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that Iran-US relations are moving in the right direction, for which Field Marshal Asim Munir has played an important role.

Addressing a ceremony held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that Field Marshal Asim Munir has played a key and important role in reducing tensions between Iran and the United States and bringing the negotiations to the right direction.

He said that the world, including Pakistan, is standing at a critical juncture in history. During this time, Pakistan has been a sincere mediator to resolve the crisis in the Gulf region. The Prime Minister said that Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir established contacts between the Iranian and American leadership during his visit to Tehran.

In his address, Shahbaz Sharif said that Field Marshal Asim Munir was constantly traveling to complete this important mission and ensured this process despite all his busy schedules. The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction that the relations between the parties are now moving in the right direction, which is welcome for the region.

Earlier, Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang warmly welcomed his visiting counterpart Shahbaz Sharif, where he was presented with a guard of honour by the Chinese armed forces.

The Prime Minister, while terming the visit to China as a welcome one, said that every time he visits China, he sees a new scene of development and modern construction.

He added that Pakistan and China are currently celebrating the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic friendship. The foundation of the relations between the two countries was laid by the founding leadership, which is now being further strengthened.

Shahbaz Sharif also thanked Chinese President Xi Jinping and the Chinese leadership for supporting Pakistan’s role in peace and ceasefire efforts. He clarified that Pakistan fully supports China’s 4-point agenda and is looking forward to joint efforts for stability in the region.

Meanwhile, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said in his statement that Pakistan has played a positive role in safeguarding common interests and regional stability through close communication and effective coordination.

He said that the meeting between President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will provide strategic guidance to further strengthen bilateral relations.

The Chinese leadership also expressed its determination that Beijing is committed to further advancing the traditional friendship with Pakistan, expanding practical cooperation, and continuing close consultation on all issues of mutual interest.
