KARACHI (HRNW): Emotional scenes were witnessed in the coastal neighborhoods of Karachi as photos of Pakistani fishermen currently languishing in Indian jails finally reached their families. For many of these households, the images serve as both a glimmer of hope and a painful reminder of their loved ones’ prolonged detention.
According to sources, 20 fishermen captured in the photographs have been identified as residents of Karachi. Among them, 11 belong to the Ibrahim Hyderi area, while 9 others are residents of Ali Akbar Shah Goth. These photos, provided by the affected families themselves, show the fishermen inside Indian prison facilities.
While the families expressed a sense of relief upon seeing that their loved ones are alive, they also shared their profound distress over the ongoing separation. The families have made an urgent appeal to the Government of Pakistan to initiate immediate diplomatic efforts to ensure the safe release and return of these fishermen. It is pertinent to mention that dozens of Pakistani fishermen remain imprisoned in India for years over allegations of violating maritime boundaries, often occurring inadvertently while fishing in open waters.
