Islamabad (HRNW)- Important points related to the possible talks between Iran and the United States underway in Pakistan have emerged, in which major differences remain between the two sides.
According to sources, Iran’s main condition is that formal talks will take place only if Washington guarantees a ceasefire in Lebanon and the lifting of sanctions on Iran. However, the United States and Israel are not willing to make the ceasefire in Lebanon part of the talks.
According to reports, Iran is demanding the restoration of its frozen assets and the lifting of sanctions, while the United States wants major sanctions and cuts in Iran’s nuclear and missile programs in exchange for limited concessions.
It has been further reported that Iran is demanding control over the Strait of Hormuz and transit fees, but the United States maintains its stance of keeping this route free of all fees and restrictions.
According to sources, the United States and Israel want a significant reduction in Iran’s missile program, which Tehran has declared completely non-negotiable.
Similarly, Iran is demanding the withdrawal of US forces from the region, while former US President Donald Trump has said that the military presence will remain until a peace agreement is reached, otherwise tensions could escalate.
Overall, fundamental differences between the parties in the negotiations remain and further diplomatic efforts are needed for any major progress.
