Islamabad (HRNW): Following reports and discussions about a potential US–Iran agreement, debate has emerged in Pakistan regarding petroleum prices and possible relief for consumers.
Senior journalist Hamid Mir reacted to statements circulating around the development on his X (formerly Twitter) account, responding to messages attributed to U.S. and Pakistani leadership.
In a sarcastic remark, he wrote that if a major US–Iran deal is finalized, then the people of Pakistan would be “entitled” to a petrol price increase of at least 200 rupees per litre.
His comment triggered widespread reactions on social media, where users interpreted it as political satire and criticism of the country’s ongoing economic and fuel pricing situation.
