Pakistan Marks Labour Day with Renewed Commitment to Workers’ Rights and Welfare

Islamabad (HRNW)- Labour Day is being observed today across Pakistan and around the world to honor the contributions, sacrifices, and struggles of the working class while renewing the commitment to protecting workers’ rights and improving their welfare. Celebrated annually on May 1, the day recognizes the vital role workers play in economic development and nation-building.

Across various cities in Pakistan, government and private organizations are holding events, rallies, and seminars highlighting key labor issues such as fair wages, safe working conditions, social security, and stronger protection of workers’ rights. However, despite the significance of the day, many workers continue to face serious challenges including inflation, unemployment, and low wages, with countless laborers still working daily to meet their basic needs and family responsibilities.

In his message on Labour Day, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described workers as the backbone of Pakistan’s economy, saying that laborers and skilled professionals are bringing pride to the country through their hard work, talent, and dedication both at home and abroad. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to safeguarding workers’ rights, improving welfare programs, and creating better employment opportunities, emphasizing the need to build a society where every worker receives fair rights, dignity, and respect.
