Rs 60 Billion Worth of Gas Stolen Annually in Pakistan, Sui Gas Officials Admit

Islamabad (HRNW)- Sui Gas officials admitted in a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Energy that about Rs 60 billion worth of gas is stolen annually in the country, the losses of which are to some extent passed on to consumers.

It was informed in the meeting that only losses up to the limit fixed by OGRA are included in the consumers’ bills, while the remaining losses are met through the company’s internal arrangements or other sources.

Briefing the committee, Sui Gas officials further said that steps are being taken to prevent gas theft, however, complete prevention of the overall loss is a major challenge.
