Faisalabad (HRNW): A woman has been arrested in Faisalabad after allegedly impersonating a senior police officer and attempting to influence an ongoing police investigation by claiming to be an SSP Operations posted in Islamabad.
According to police sources, both parties in a criminal case had been summoned to Jhang Bazaar Police Station as part of an investigation. During the proceedings, the woman allegedly introduced herself as a senior police officer, claimed she had passed the Central Superior Services (CSS) examination, and asserted that she was serving as an SSP Operations in Islamabad. She reportedly attempted to pressure police officers into conducting the investigation according to her instructions.
Sources said that a graduate Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) present at the police station became suspicious of her claims and requested official identification and proof of her appointment. The woman allegedly produced an official identity card and other documents from her bag.
A Lady Station House Officer (SHO) was subsequently called to the scene, and senior authorities were contacted to verify the woman’s credentials, identity documents, and supporting records.
According to the police, the preliminary verification found the identity card and official documents to be allegedly forged. The woman was taken into custody and handed over to the Women’s Police for further legal proceedings.
Police officials stated that the investigation is ongoing to determine whether the suspect had previously impersonated a government official to deceive others. Authorities are also examining whether additional individuals were involved in the preparation or use of the alleged forged government documents.
Police further stated that impersonating a public official and attempting to mislead state institutions or improperly influence police proceedings constitutes a serious criminal offense under the law, and legal action will be taken accordingly.
