Karachi (HRNW): Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Chief Hafiz Naeem Ur Rehman has criticized the government’s petroleum pricing policy, stating that fuel prices are being revised on a daily basis while reductions are limited to only a few paisas when prices are lowered.
Addressing a press conference in Karachi, Hafiz Naeem Ur Rehman said that Pakistan has the most expensive petrol prices in the region. He claimed that petrol remains costly even when compared with ex-refinery rates.
The Jamaat-e-Islami leader described the petroleum levy as an injustice against the public, calling it an additional burden and a form of excessive taxation on citizens.
Hafiz Naeem Ur Rehman said that during wartime situations, countries around the world introduce economic emergency measures to provide relief to their people. He criticized the current economic policies, stating that rising fuel costs are increasing difficulties for ordinary citizens.
He demanded a review of the petroleum pricing mechanism and called for effective measures to provide real relief to the public.
